Henry Lynch: Chief Executive Officer and Director of Co-op Insurance NZ

Henry was appointed as CEO of Co-op Money NZ and Co-op Insurance NZ in 2010 and has broad expertise, spanning over 30 years in the financial services industry.

Henry has held senior management and executive roles at Westpac and Tower Insurance and was CEO of Dorchester Life (now part of Turners Group NZ Limited) and Catalyst Risk Management Ltd. His core competencies cover strategy, payments, banking, insurance, sales and marketing and finance at executive level. Henry holds a number of Governance roles including Director of Co-op Insurance NZ and Director of NZ Martial Arts Institute. He is a past Board Member of The Insurance Council of New Zealand and is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors.

Henry holds a sixth degree black belt in the Japanese martial art, Aikido and was inaugurated into The New Zealand Martial Arts Hall of Fame in 2009 and inducted into the Australasian Martial Arts Hall of Fame in 2012.

David Smart: Chief Financial Officer

David Smart is Chief Financial Officer with over 10 years as head of Finance at Co-op Insurance NZ.

Prior to joining Co-op Insurance NZ, David was a lecturer at the Auckland University of Technology in Financial Management, Accounting and Banking for 8 years, a Director of Arbuthnot Latham Bank (UK) and Group Internal Auditor at NZI Bank.

David lives in Auckland and his interests include reading, travel and sport.

Jonathan Lee: Chief Operating Officer

Jonathan Lee was appointed to the Executive of Co-op Insurance NZ in February 2011, and leads the organisation’s business development activities for Co-op Insurance NZ.

Prior to joining Co-op Insurance NZ, Jonathan held a number of senior roles both in New Zealand and overseas in Canada and the United Kingdom.  Jonathan holds a Bachelor of Business Studies from Massey University and a Master of Business Administration from Henley Management College in the UK.

Jonathan lives in Auckland and his interests include tennis, golf and spending time with his young family.

Deane Johns: Chief Information Officer

Deane Johns was appointed as Chief Information Officer of Co-op Insurance NZ in August 2011.

Deane has extensive experience in a broad range of insurance, IT and service delivery roles. Deane began his career after completing a Bachelor of Science at Victoria University. He worked for Royal Sun Alliance for 15 years initially as an Underwriter and Claims Settlements Manager. Deane was previously employed by Gen-i as Programme Manager, responsible for a large team managing the ERP upgrade for a large New Zealand Corporate.

Deane has a strong understanding of strategic issues, IT roadmaps, project governance and proven leadership experience.

Graham Bunkall: Insurance & Group Capability Manager

Graham was appointed to the role of Insurance & Group Capability Manager in April 2016.  This was a newly created role to provide singular management of our insurance operations and the responsibility for the Group performance and capability of our people.

Graham has approximately 35 years’ experience in the service sector with 20 years in the Insurance industry.  He has held a number of senior management and executive level roles during this time, with his primary experience being in the field of human resource management.  More recently he has had a more operational focus reviewing the business processes of organisations with the view to improving efficiencies and customer service delivery.

Graham lives on Auckland’s North Shore and is a keen gardener and cook.
